SALACIA

Few if any ships on the Nile match the quality and style of Salacia. The ship has been converted from a vessel for over 100 guests to one that accommodates just 47. Twenty-six large and well-appointed Junior Suites and one Master Suite all face outside, and there are multiple deck areas for viewing life along the river. There is a swimming pool, a spa, exercise area and plenty of space to just lounge and relax. Lunch is a sumptuous buffet sometimes served on deck, dinner is à la carte — and there is no set seating time. It’s a haven of elegance and service — too often lost in today’s world.

Capacity: 47 guests in 26 Junior Suites and one Master Suite.

Registry: Egypt. Overall length: 236 feet.

Public Areas: There is a tremendous amount of attractive and comfortable public space. The Oasis Lounge is the venue for talks and briefings, and it and the adjacent Atrium Lounge are inviting places to read, have a drink and relax. There is a Sun Deck with pool, spa and chairs, and an Upper Sun Deck with chairs where al fresco meals are often served, weather permitting. The Upper Deck has a cozy library/lounge. The Nile Deck has a spa with exercise machines, sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi, and a massage treatment room.

Meals: The dining salon offers continental cuisine, fine Middle Eastern dishes and rare local specialties. Lunch is usually a buffet, often served on deck, weather permitting. There are no set seating times, and dinner is typically served à la carte. Refreshments are available throughout the day and evening. If you would like room service, it is complimentary.

Cabins: All Junior Suites are spacious and face outside, with two large windows, sitting area, mini-bar, hair dryer, programmable safe, telephone, television and private DVD player. They are a mix of twin-bedded and double-bedded cabins. Each has one or two private bathrooms, with shower and deluxe amenities. Laundry is done free of charge. There is ample storage space in each cabin. The large, elegant Master Suite is beautifully furnished, with a wealth of amenities and an elegant ambiance.

Special Features: Her spaciousness and appropriate size set Salacia apart from virtually all other ships on the Nile. She has the feel of a luxurious private yacht. With five decks, including two decks with exclusively public space, she was refitted in 2006 to accommodate only 47 guests. The vessel has a heated swimming pool (with sauna, Jacuzzi and shower adjacent), and a spa equipped with fitness equipment, sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi and massage treatment room. A professional masseuse is on board. There is a gift shop and hair salon. The crew of 60 provides personable, attentive service.
